You may recall back in February we announced that FWDP had been appointed to design an exhibition for the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA); it now gives us great pleasure to say the exhibition is complete and open to the public!

The SDNPA were looking to highlight the special qualities of the South Downs in an inspiring and engaging way that would appeal to all ages and interests. To help them achieve this we designed an interactive discovery exhibition which opened last month.
As designers, we know that when it comes to creating an engaging exhibition, it’s not simply about putting pen to paper, it’s about embracing lateral thinking and visualising how physical objects can be used to convey messages and educate visitors.
With this in mind, we merged inspiring interpretation displays with hands-on interactives to create a colourful and dynamic exhibition. Through the use of audio visual displays, physical exhibits, printed graphic panels and interactive elements, we have created a truly memorable learning experience. Slide your fingers over the rolling hills of the South Downs on a 3D map, push back panels to reveal fascinating facts about the local wildlife, and arrange spinning boxes to journey back through time and discover notable moments in history relating to the surrounding area. There’s so much to do!
The exhibition – which even appeared on BBC South Today – is located in the main reception of the South Downs Centre and continues through to a recently built extension.
Stephen Sibbald, Interpretation Officer for the South Downs National Park Authority, was delighted with the new exhibition, he said: “Fitzpatrick Woolmer produced a highly engaging interpretive exhibition in the public reception area of our new home in Midhurst, West Sussex. From the initial response to the brief through to the final installation they delivered an excellent service, on budget and within schedule. It is fair to say the exhibition has exceeded expectations and I have no qualms in recommending this company.”
